Primary and secondary DNS

A glance at DNS technology

Domain name system (DNS) is an Internet standard for resolving the names of individual machines into IP addresses and vice versa. This resolution is performed by machines called nameservers, which turn items like the names of Web and mail servers into IP addresses. Many organizations require the use of DNS on a daily basis but do not have the resources or appropriate staffing to manage a DNS nameserver. IHETS can provide primary and secondary DNS services to members who are unable to support the necessary infrastructure locally.
